Gov. Gregoire signs MOU to promote educational assistance program for veterans.
OLYMPIA – OLYMPIA – Gov. Chris Gregoire on Thursday, Sept. 10 (10 a.m.) joined the state’s military, veterans and higher education agencies in signing a Memorandum of Understanding to affirm a combined commitment to helping veterans and their families succeed in their higher education and training goals.Gregoire also administer the oath of service to AmeriCorps members serving in the Veterans Corps. Through this new initiative, national service will be a strategy that many campuses in our state use to create a culture that supports and encourages veterans’ academic success as they transition from military to civilian life.
“Our goal is to connect every Washington veteran with the benefits they earned,” said John Lee, director of the Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs.

ReplyDeleteGovenor Gregoire is expected for a visit next week in the Tri City area. I asked and was told that at least 1 American Legion Commander plans to attend. I plan only to observe.
